Background
EirGrid plc is a leading Irish energy business, dedicated to the provision of transmission and market services for the benefit of electricity consumers.  EirGrid puts in place the grid infrastructure needed to support competition in energy, to promote economic growth, to facilitate more renewable energy, and to provide essential services.
Reflecting EirGrid’s statutory obligation to explore and develop opportunities for further interconnection, EirGrid and the French Transmission System Operator, Réseau de Transport d’Electricité (RTE), are working together to develop an electrical link between Ireland and France, known as the Celtic Interconnector. The interconnector has been designated as an EU Project of Common Interest (PCI) and an “Electricity Highway” under the EU e-Highway 2050 project.
Job Description
This role is within the Interconnection team where the successful candidate will oversee the commercial requirements of a suite of contracts for the Celtic Interconnector including the EPC (Engineer Procure and Construct) procurement strategy and full procurement process. The Celtic Interconnector construction phase will follow.
The delivery of the Celtic Interconnector will be via a Joint Venture between EirGrid and RTE. Collaboration with RTE commercial and contract specialist resources will be a significant part of the role.
The successful candidate will ensure that the commercial responsibilities of EirGrid in respect of development of the Celtic Interconnector are properly managed and that relationships with all stakeholders including RTE, the regulators and vendors are maintained to high standards.

Location: Dublin
Main Responsibilities
• Manage the EPC contract commercial inputs for EirGrid, in collaboration with RTE, to ensure all requirements are successfully incorporated into the EPC contract tender pack.
• Collaborate with the internal and external lawyers to support the procurement process and draw up the EPC contract.
• Ensure appropriate risk management measures including liability and warranty are incorporated in the EPC contract. 
• Advise on insurance requirements for the Construction and Operations Phases.
• Lead contractual negotiations with EPC contractors throughout the tender process.
• Manage the contractual aspects of the suite of contracts that are entered into as part of the Celtic Interconnector project.
• Apply judgement and expertise to a diverse range of activities in respect of the EPC contract development.
• Ensure costs are managed to Celtic Interconnector budget targets established as part of the programme for capital expenditure.
• Monitor work and advise on payments of service provider and contractor invoices.
• Recommend contract variations for acceptance or rejection by the executive.
• Manage a suite of third party services provider contracts to ensure the appropriate execution of EirGrid, and where appropriate RTE, requirements.
• Coordinate and review the work of external consultants, e.g. identification and management of third party consultancy requirements and the management of the appropriate budget.
• Preparation of management reports in line with Celtic requirements.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Qualified in EPC contract development. 
• 10+ years experience of managing large infrastructure project contracts with significant capital budgets
• EPC Contract development and negotiation experience (HVDC scheme contractual development experience would be an advantage)
• Risk Management training desirable
• Excellent stakeholder management skills
• Strong communication skills with an emphasis on high quality report writing and ability to communicate technical issues clearly and effectively
• Strong analytical and problem solving ability
• Full drivers license
