Network Engineer

Role / Principal Accountabilities:

  • Support implementation of new firewalls, including ruleset creation and consolidation
  • Help define networking standards using best practices to provide input into companies network architecture and roadmap
  • Be aware of industry trends and direction that are defining the future state of the enterprise network
  • Input into design and development of solutions to automate delivery of core networking components and peripherals
  • Work closely with peer groups ensuring Group Technology Services deliver consistent, stable, scalable and enterprise ready networking solutions

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of all networking infrastructure
  • Proven track record in network engineering, and a vision of infrastructure system architecture
  • Demonstrate an ability to work well as part of a global team, and on their own when required
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a solid understanding of operational support procedures
  • Strong communication skills to work with SI partners onshore and offshore

Knowledge Required:

  • Experienced network engineer qualified to CCIE level or equivalent
  • Advanced level knowledge of Routing and Switching
  • Experience of WAN circuits and solutions (i.e. MPLS and VPN's)
  • Exposure to Zero Trust Network Architecture, SASE concepts and implementation spanning solutions such as Cato Networks, Cloudflare, Zscaler
  • Knowledge of working with Firewalling technologies (Checkpoint, Fortinet or CISCO)
  • Knowledge of Application Delivery Controllers (e.g. F5, Citrix NetScaler)
  • Network programmability and frameworks (Ansible/Python)
  • Experience of Public Cloud solutions (AWS / Azure)
  • Proficient level knowledge of networking design and documentation (HLD/LLD)

Desirable Skills

  • SC clearance
  • Utilities experience
  • Awareness of security assurance and design best practices i.e. NIST or CIS
