A major Japanese construction company is seeking a talented structural Engineer to join our team. As a structural engineer/design manager, you will play a crucial role in designing and managing the support structures for Offshore Wind Turbines (OWTs). You will be responsible for understanding geotechnical, hydraulic, and seismic engineering for OWP support structures, with a focus on fixed-bottom OWTs supporting structure, including foundations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and engineer support structures for Offshore Wind Turbines (OWTs)
  • Develop understanding of geotechnical, hydraulic, and seismic engineering for OWP support structures.
  • Focus on fixed-bottom OWTs supporting structure, including foundations.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders including contractors, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams.
  • Conduct cost estimation and ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of civil engineering experience as a member of a design team
  • Experience with analysis software such as Finite Element Analysis; Sesam (DNV), STAAD (Bentley systems), ABAQUS (Simulia), PLAXIS mode (Bentley systems), TDAPIII (Arc Information Systems), Ground Response Analysis; SHAKE (PDS), TDAPIII (AIS), FLIP (FLIP research group)
  • Knowledge or experience with Integrated Load Analysis; FAST/OpenFAST (NREL), Bladed (DNV), OrcaFlex (Orcina), SIMA (DNV) is preferable
  • Minimum Business level Japanese N2

Preferred Skills:

  • Passion for renewable energy
  • Flexibility to manage multiple projects and travel to project sites as required
  • Experience with offshore oil & gas or port and harbour structures design projects
  • Assistant Manager rank experience as a part leader of small projects, understanding of ISO 9000s series & design cost estimation
  • Managerial work experience as a project manager of small to mid-sized projects
  • Strong technical knowledge of offshore wind engineering and construction practices
