Production Team Member II (Blades) - Vestas

General Purpose:

The Production Team Member II position is an experienced, non-entry level position. Production Team Member II engage in fabrication of structural Blade products through certified roles in Transport, Equipment, Resin Bay, Quality and ERP Superuser.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Proven understanding of Production Team Member I job duties

  • Prepare materials for production

  • Move finished product

  • Leader is 5S efforts

  • Pack and deliver material as necessary

  • Spot crane movements

  • Communicate with WasteNot when trash needs emptied

  • Obtain tooling and materials from tool crib

  • Basic cleaning of machine parts and first line maintenance

  • Basic trouble shooting of machine and equipment issues

  • Understand escalation process regarding equipment issues

  • Understand Production Worker Instructions (PWI), drawings, and specifications

  • Understand of escalation process regarding equipment issues and quality issues

  • Required to be Safety-Minded.  Will safely do the right thing, every time, without being told

  • Support and participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts.

  • Collaborative and effective team player and able to work with teams, looking out for yourself and others

 

Transport:

Transport roles are the primary crane operators in the department and are expected to be proficient at all lifts, single and tandem. You may be working on a production team and will need to balance the production needs of the team with your responsibilities of performing crane movements, organizing equipment and communicating blade transport. These roles are also forklift certified.

 

Equipment:

Equipment roles are responsible for 1st line maintenance, repairing our mouldettes, preparing the root plates on the moulds and assisting the Maintenance department in performing mould refurbishments. This is an independently driven position so a strong sense of self-motivation and time management is a must!

 

Resin Bay:

In the Resin Bay position, you are responsible for properly maintaining and operating a variety of dosing equipment essential to the department function. You will be working in a small team setting supporting our production teams on meeting the goals of the department.

 

Quality:

Our Quality roles are responsible for recording batch lot data, inspecting parts before, during and after process for defects, performing thermography on our blades and a variety of other functions designed to produce the best possible product. We believe all defects are preventable and this role will help us achieve that goal. In Finish, they are responsible for inspection of blades after paint, responsible for final quality matrix and final quality sign off on all processes for Paint and Final. Role ensures IRF and QDA are complete and accurate. Generates or dispositions NCs as needed. Responsible for checking NC status and labeling blades. Understands how to put blades in sets and knows process for ballasting blades.

 

ERP Superuser:

The ERP Superuser position is the primary point of contact for our factory Superusers to diagnose and correct data inaccuracies with team assignments, active team members and backflushing. This position is independent and requires the ability to quickly analyze and translate data as well as high level communication with factory Superusers and production teams.

Education, Training, and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 6 – 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Established work history of at least one year in preferably manufacturing

  • Demonstrated success in position of Production Team Member I

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos

  • Brings teams together and promotes positive environment

  • Must meet the testing and requirements for this tiered level

  • Basic system skills-Microsoft office, SAP and Apriso

  • Must pass confined spaces test as required

  • Must be able to pass a respiratory fit test as required

  • Participate in Vestas Behavioral Change (safety observations) program.

  • Heavy equipment training and certifications for those using cranes, forklifts, jibs, gantries, etc.

  • Must be able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task, i.e. safety glasses, gloves, face shield, respirator (except Nacelles), bump cap

  • Must be able to tolerate an environment where chemicals and materials are used within OSHA guidelines.

  • Must demonstrate that they can sit on a rolling stool and manoeuvre 40 feet.

  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to reach overhead and assemble nuts and bolts for 5 consecutive minutes.

  • Candidate must be able to demonstrate that they kneel on 1 knee, squat, bend over so hands are at a height of knees for 4 minutes (1 minute each)

  • Candidate must demonstrate that they can climb up and down 8 stairs.

  • Frequently push, pull and lift to 35 pounds own their own and team lift up to 70 pounds.
