A leading global provider in the renewable energy sector, specializing in the development, design, and construction of solar power plants is seeking a skilled Electrical Construction Site Engineer to lead and manage the electrical installation of 3 solar farms across Japan.
- Oversee engineering and design, verify on-site installations, and ensure alignment with design standards for solar power plants.
- Develop detailed/basic designs, including SLDs, PVSyst, schematics, and all related aspects of PV design.
- Conduct bi-weekly meetings with the engineering team to discuss design progress and project updates.
- Provide technical support for tender preparation and component evaluation, balancing cost and performance.
- Assist the Project Manager in evaluating PV plants from subcontracts and product selection.
- Review system design, including grid code compliance, SCADA and RTU interface design, grounding, lightning protection, communication systems, transformers, inverters, RMUs, DCBs, and cables.
- Assist the construction team with problem-solving and queries.
- Coordinate project documents necessary for construction permits.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), conducting inspections and witness tests.
- Lead the engineering team in estimation and project milestone development for system design, construction work, and project closure.
- Support the supply chain team in resolving issues with manufacturing firms, sub-contractors, suppliers, and clients.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 1st Class Electrical Construction Management (第一電気施工管理) certification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience of the electrical engineering of large-scale PV plants, preferably connected to high-voltage grids.
- Fluency in English and Japanese (verbal and written).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multinational environment.
- Willingness to travel to each site.
Desired Experience:
- Familiarity with MV/HV Grid Code related to PV plant design.
- Experience with SCADA and RTU interface design.
- Knowledge of grid code compliance, grounding, lightning protection, communication systems, transformers, inverters, RMUs, DCBs, and cables.
- Prior experience with Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
