As HVDC Design Engineer you are responsible for the technical lifecycle management of the HVDC systems of the offshore grid connections. This by creating and optimizing the technical specification and prescribing O&M strategies together with a team of experts.

Your main responsibility will be to develop, review, optimize and guide the HVDC Basic Design of the new HVDC platforms. You will closely align with our Asset Management department in Germany and continuously exchange lessons learned and harmonize specifications. You will do this in cooperation with a team of technical experts located in the Asset Management department Netherlands and the project.

The main focus of your expertise will be on HVDC technology.
Tasks and responsibilities include:
• Development of the 2 GW offshore HVDC system design;
• Perform and interpret the necessary HVDC system and network studies;
• Develop and draft technical specifications;
• Explain the client's specifications, review technical designs/offers, discuss/negotiate with possible suppliers;
• Quality assurance of delivered products from HVDC suppliers together with the rest of the HVDC group;
• Advise on the technical solutions during the project realisation phase, or check the proposed solutions on quality;
• Follow systems engineering principles and tools.
Candidate profile:
• MSc in electrical engineering;
• Extensive knowledge and experience (2-5 years) on designing HVDC-based systems;
• Experience with PSCAD software;
• Take initiative, prepare convincing technical arguments, internal stakeholder management;
• Enthusiastic, willing to take responsibility, team player, good organisational skills.
• Having a critical eye on input, ability to challenge team members and stakeholders;
• Excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to build relationships and create enthousiasm;
• Hardworking and determined to meet milestones;
• Excellent knowledge of the English language;
