Business Change Manager

Our Client is currently undertaking a transition to a new operating model, including a full review of structures across the Directorate. We are seeking a candidate with good HR and Organisational Design experience to join the Organisational Effectiveness team and support this transition.

Essential Functional / Technical Skills

Substantial previous experience of working across most or all Business Change disciplines on large scale transformational projects and programmes, with an emphasis on people programmes.
Exceptional customer focus, ensuring that customer benefits are always at the forefront of activity.
Experience of managing transformation project lifecycles
Able to demonstrate subject matter expertise with a strong understanding of business change best practices.
Able to demonstrate an understanding of project management and lifecycles, including knowledge of phase and gate review processes.
Knowledge of change management techniques, models and theories, and experience of their practical application in business contexts; LEAN management awareness/ skills desirable.
Previous people and/or third party contractor management experience preferred, with a focus on performance and engagement
Strong networking skills, building stakeholder engagement and influencing at senior level
Able to scope and specify requirements for specialist input e.g training, communications to meet business needs.

Business Knowledge
Good knowledge of the operation of the energy utilities business, or regulated businesses
Experience of working within an IT department, or experience of IT deliveries.
Experience of developing project specifications and documentation to meet lead times.
Informed knowledge of HR and Organisational Design principles, gained through previous experience.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Safety, Health and Environment (SHE)
Actively promote the day to day safety environment and culture by way of proactive management, adhering to current health and safety legislation. Monitor and control standards by ensuring that appropriate checks and audits are carried out. Identify and effectively manage any safety or health elements associated with change projects and / or programmes.

2. Methodology
Create a structured, systematic framework to guide individuals and teams through the change. Responsible for planning and managing business change activities on either all elements of a single project or specific elements of multiple projects, developing an appropriate journey for impacted business areas. Drive the use of appropriate elements of the Business Change Framework to support the business in managing complex change while maintaining BAU. Develop expertise in business change activities by building experience of managing change for projects which impact more than one business area.

3. Governance
Advise business teams on appropriate governance frameworks. Identify and escalate challenges, forming potential actions to help solve problems. Represent Business Change at each level of project governance, complying with status reporting as agreed to ensure two-way communication and update on deliverables. Challenge the project management team and leads on business change needs and relevant outputs. Raise risks and issues to the project management team and key business representatives including those with wider programme or business impacts. Escalate risks or issues to project management when resolution is not forthcoming or senior leadership intervention is required.
Report the status of project activities to relevant members of the Business Change team, including risks, issues, mitigations and decisions. Raise any internal or cross project dependencies to the project and business change team, ensuring they are recorded and appropriately managed to resolution.

4. Training
Ensure a quality, fit-for-purpose and best practice integrated training solution is delivered for each project/programme. Ensure effective and sustainable handover to BAU through collaboration with Corporate HR and Training. Support the development of the project or programme training plans and ensure optimum utilisation of training resources, processes, facilities and equipment. Ensure that each training solution covers the end-to-end business scenarios, overview, navigation, business context, core systems and process training and highlights any inputs into the support model. Ensure that the training deployment is defined and planned, and the technologies, infrastructure, facilities and logistics are adequate. Be aware of and support any programme and / or portfolio release management plans.

5. Organisational Resource
Work closely with other members of the Business Change team to ensure all Business Change disciplines are fairly represented within all projects and programmes. Assess projects and programmes at the beginning of the lifecycle, planning for adequate Business Change resource (including third parties) to support benefit realisation.

6. Communication and Engagement
Define and develop the communication and engagement approach and plan to ensure the engagement and commitment of stakeholder groups, including choosing the appropriate tools and channels. Own, plan and manage the design, development and delivery of quality, accurate and timely communication and engagement materials and activities. Plan and facilitate engagement sessions (one-to-one and project-wide) with impacted business areas, manage risks, issues and escalations and resolve problems related to planning, business continuity, etc. Working on a specified programme/project:
* Maintain a close relationship with the project team to understand, plan for and successfully implement communication and engagement activities to ensure the impacted business areas are committed to the change.
* Ensure a regular flow of communications with the change network.
* Responsible for co-ordinating and approving internal programme/project communications, where appropriate.
* Ensure any project communication activities are in line and supportive of any broader programme and / or portfolio communication plan

7. Budget Management, Profit and Loss
Responsible for effectively managing any allocated budget for Business Change on the project and sourcing resource accordingly to deliver business change activities, including management of third party suppliers to deliver to cost and time constraints.

8. Customer Service and Stakeholder Relationship Management
Be the overall point of contact with impacted business areas and key stakeholders to successfully deliver change. Build strong relationships across Business Change, understanding the projects' and programmes' requirements to leverage benefit realisation. Operate effectively with the business and project team, influencing and negotiating with stakeholders as required and representing the business point of view.
