▪ Our client is currently undergoing a major strategic IT investment that includes the
delivery of a "Core Platform Replacement" (CPR) programme. This platform will introduce new
business and IT processes and systems to fulfil sales, CRM, and billing requirements, and introduce
a new target operating model.
▪ The CPR releases are planned in 2023 and will implement a third-party software package (Itineris
UMAX 365) which will be integrated with third-party IT systems. It will enable the
effective servicing and billing of 500,000+ customer accounts.
▪ A number of other IT projects are operating or planned across the BE IT portfolio to directly and
indirectly support the delivery of CPR. The IT Project Manager is an important role to manage a
subset of these projects.
▪ The successful applicant will be responsible for working with BAU IT teams, and our clients IT partner (HCL),
and other third-parties to deliver projects as quickly as possible, to the required quality and
▪ An experienced, capable, delivery-focused individual is required - someone who is able to quickly
assimilate information before creating and managing multiple cohesive delivery plans.
Project Manager - Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the successful delivery of a range of projects by:
i. Understanding the IT portfolio and landscape and the scope of these projects
ii. Making sense of agreed design deliverables - functional and technical.
iii. Turning these into a detailed, implementable programme of work for build and test phases.
iv. Ensuring appropriate infrastructure is in place to enable the above.
v. Identifying and organising supporting resources where applicable (e.g. for testing).
vi. Driving weekly progress against a clear project plan.
vii. Ensuring all project management elements are effectively managed including cross�programme risks, issues and dependencies.
viii. Managing upwards to bring key risks, issues and dependencies to the attention of key
ix. Establishing strong relationships with all programme and non-programme stakeholders,
notably in business units that will be impacted by mop-up projects.
x. Managing any cutover and deployment activities.
xi. Working with CPR Programme Delivery Leads to integrate mop-up activities into broader
CPR initiatives (e.g. testing, cutover, support model) where applicable.
xii. Ability to deliver these projects in agile and/or waterfall governance depending on project
Project Manager - Initial Tasks (first four weeks):
i. Distilling the scope of identified projects into key activities and work-packets so everyone is
clear on what is (and what is not) expected.
ii. Defining the effort required to deliver each project - costs, resources, schedule
iii. Drafting and baselining a delivery plan
iv. Confirming who will be needed for successful progression as we transition from design to build
v. Ensuring infrastructure / environments work is progressing at pace.
vi. Holding suppliers to account for discrete deliverables.
vii. Identifying and involving all necessary Business Energy stakeholders for governance and wider
CPR programme purposes.
viii. Defining tasks and chasing/closing all required actions to meet plan
ix. Issuing status reports and setting-up and driving weekly status meetings.
Project Manager - Initial Projects
Alongside CPR, there are several other significant IT projects within Business Energy which are in-flight
delivering important immediate and future capability. This has created a very busy portfolio at our clients Business Energy and it is essential that the IT Project Manager considers the impact of these projects so
that all projects can be delivered successfully.

IT Project Manager - Required Skills & Experience
i. A high calibre IT professional with proven experience in planning and delivering outcomes in a
complex, technical environment.
ii. Ability to work with partial information to drive out a project plan and close gaps quickly.
iii. Ability to quickly understand IT solution design and development - including architecture,
environments, integration, testing and cutover.
iv. Ability to effectively build and manage third-party vendor relationships.
v. Strong leadership skills to assemble, motivate and lead a team.
vi. Clear verbal and written communication skills, as well as good organisational skills.
vii. Good understanding of UK/EU retail energy markets, especially B2B.
viii. Experience of agile and waterfall delivery
ix. Knowledge of IT systems in energy management, sales, billing and customer services/CRM
would be an advantage.
x. Further education in computing or science related subject will also be beneficial
