Will be working on not just internal but also external projects, working with external architects, design teams and contractors
- Take a set of information requirements from a client and create a BIM execution plan
- Information requirements from client - what they want
- Execution plan - how it will be delivered
- Establishing BIM goals, then establishing responsibilities for each of the deliverables - might be asset data linking in, could be modelling linking in, could be traditional services (mep)
- About adding value
- They will be doing:
- Clash detection
- Model reviews
- Asset data checking
- Then deliver that plan using best technology, BIM workflows etc
- Working with information managers on a variety of projects - spread across the UK delivering projects in mainly public sector - Uni buildings, healthcare projects, leisure centres, schools.
- Internal projects - life sciences, custodial projects
Working with teams that sit across London, Warwick, Manchester and Glasgow - very close-knit team
About the geometry - 3D objects/the model or the asset data (when you click on the 3D object what is the data behind it - serial number, warranty details - the data that sits behind the model data) - lots of checking to validate data
Not just the design team - also the sub-contractors - (catering specialist for kitchen equipment or mech for a sprinkler)
Solibri - data checking software - what's behind the visual (asset data)
Navisworks - geometry checking - clash detection
Someone who can communicate with design teams, supply chain, client - making sure everyone is providing their piece of the puzzle to make sure they all work together and able to pick up inconsistencies on models and data overlays
They wont be doing the actual design themselves/ creating the models or data - this person will just be checking the information and bringing all the information together BUT - would be easier for this person if they have experience in creating models in the past (coming from a technician background)
Team has a diverse background - mostly from architectural background, some civil structural, some construction, some MEP
Within the team:
Principal - manages more people side
Senior - responsible more for projects and within projects
Day to day duties:
Initially won't have line management responsibility
- Mentoring, supporting and coaching graduates
- Arranging review, programming reviews with the client
- Undertaking carrying out the reviews based on receiving the models
- Chairing BIM meetings to communicate findings and agreeing necxt steps
- Managing delivery within timescales
- Managing the common data environment - viewpoint - centralised point where documents and models can be stored
- Clash detection as part of reviews, data checking
- Compliance
- BIM execution plan
- Updating the BIM execution plan
- Looking at better workflow/ changes
Interfacing with digital operations and maintenance manual (provided by a 3rd party) - providing the construction team with gathering models together in prep for handover (making sure databases all say the same thing)
