Leeds, West Yorkshire £30000 - £35000 per annum CAD Technician - Substation ProjectsOur client is looking to hire a CAD Technician to support the delivery of substation and utility infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong AutoCAD background who is looking to develop further within a growing engineering environment, particularly within the power and energy sector.The role will involve producing high-quality civil and structural drawings for substation projects, working closely with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to support design development from concept through to construction.Key ResponsibilitiesProduce accurate civil and structural CAD drawings for substation and utility infrastructure projectsPrepare and update:General arrangement drawingsFoundation and footing detailsSteelwork and gantry layoutsTrenches, ducting, and drainage drawingsSite layouts and grading plansSupport the production and maintenance of drawing registers and documentcontrol processesAssist with design modifications and revisions following engineer and clientfeedbackWork closely with civil, structural, and electrical engineering teams throughoutproject deliverySupport the transition and development of projects into Revit and 3D modellingenvironmentsInterpret engineering sketches, technical specifications, and survey informationto produce detailed drawingsEnsure all work is completed in line with industry and client drafting standardsOpportunity to attend site visits and provide project support where requiredExperience2-7 years' experience within CAD drafting/design, ideally within civil or structuralEngineeringPrevious experience working on:Substation projectsTransmission & distribution projectsUtility or infrastructure projects would be highly advantageousExperience working in multidisciplinary engineering environments preferredTechnical SkillsStrong proficiency in AutoCAD (essential)Experience with Revit, MicroStation, or other 3D/CAD modelling software advantageousGood understanding of civil and structural drafting standards and detailing practicesKnowledge of:Concrete detailingSteel structure detailingFoundations, pedestals, trenches, and structural layoutsFamiliarity with substation layouts and industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, and utility specificationsAbility to manage drawing revisions and maintain accurate documentationComfortable interpreting engineering mark-ups and design changes Personal AttributesStrong attention to detail and accuracyGood communication and collaboration skillsTeam-oriented approach with willingness to support wider project teamsProactive attitude and willingness to develop technically within the power sector Location & Working PatternLeeds city centre office - typically 2-3 days per weekAdditional project exposure in the North East (Boldon area)Flexible approach to occasional site visits if desiredersg are an equal opportunities employer; we are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all job applicants.
