ersg are searching for a Substation Commissioning Engineer to join a major contractor in the Irish Power, Transmission & Distribution sectors. This role requires someone with experience in commissioning ESB substations, and you will be working across multiple projects across Ireland.The successful candidate will be responsible for;Verifying all primary and secondary substation plant/equipment is suitable for a Declaration of Fitness.Conduct all on-site HV commissioning tests on related plant.Verify communications systems (SCADA, RTU, automation systems) are operational.Lead commissioning on protection and control equipment.Review and ensure comprehensive documentation of all test records.Develop and nurture the update of commissioning procedures and standards.You will have demonstrable experience in the commissioning of ESB HV substations. HV Substation Design Approval Engineer (Contract)ResponsibilitiesAct as the technical authority for reviewing and approving high-voltage and extra-high-voltage substation design packages.Ensure primary electrical designs comply with applicable transmission standards, project specifications, and engineering best practice.Review, verify, and approve engineering drawings, calculations, technical reports, and design documentation before submission.Lead the delivery of primary plant designs for AIS, GIS, and HV substations throughout the project lifecycle.Produce and review general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, section drawings, and associated technical documentation.Manage design revisions, assess engineering changes, and ensure all modifications are accurately documented and technically justified.Review vendor documentation and confirm selected equipment is suitable for the intended application.Participate in technical design reviews, constructability workshops, and engineering risk assessments.Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Protection & Control, Civil, Overhead Line, and Cable engineers to ensure coordinated project delivery.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers within the design team.Support engineering assurance activities by responding to technical queries and resolving review comments within agreed timescales.Promote quality, safety, and compliance throughout all stages of the engineering process.Ensure engineering solutions align with current UK transmission standards and industry regulations.RequirementsDegree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.Significant experience delivering HV/EHV substation primary design projects within the UK transmission sector.Previous experience in a Lead Design Engineer, Design Approval, or Technical Authority position.Strong understanding of transmission substation engineering principles, including AIS and GIS substations.Experience reviewing and approving engineering drawings, calculations, and technical documentation.Knowledge of UK transmission network standards and utility engineering requirements.Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams across complex infrastructure projects.Familiarity with engineering change management and formal design review processes.Working knowledge of relevant UK Health & Safety legislation and safe-by-design principles.Experience using CAD software, with exposure to 3D modelling or BIM tools considered advantageous.Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage internal engineering teams, contractors, and project stakeholders.Able to work independently while providing technical leadership on major transmission projects.ersg are an equal opportunities employer; we are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all job applicants. Track Design EngineerOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Track Design Engineer to support the delivery of railway infrastructure projects. Senior Electrical Engineer - DistributionAbout the OpportunityAn established engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its growing Distribution team. ersg are supporting the search for a Construction Manager on behalf of a leading business within the Irish Renewable Energy market. This role is a hybrid position, requiring occasional travel to projects across Ireland.The crux of this role is to deliver projects from late stage development through to completion. Supporting key stakeholders in the project (end client, consultancies/contractors, DNO/TSOs etc.). Candidates should have demonstrable experience of delivering to ESB/EirGrid standards.Core responsibilities include;Leading projects to Irish regulations and in a HSE compliant manner.Overseeing the delivery of project(s) on time and on budget.Ensuring clients are aware of project risk management.Inviting contractors to tender for delivery of projects and managing their progress.Understanding and inputting into design review process.Applicants MUST have experience within the Irish Renewable Energy sector.
