The Design Manager will oversee delivery of our client's UK engineering design projects within the power transmission & distribution sector.Key ResponsibilitiesLead engineering design projects from concept to completion, including FEED, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, constructability reviews, construction-stage design support, and closeout.Manage project teams across global offices and ensure adequate resourcing.Act as Project Manager on design-only projects or Design Manager on Design & Build / EPC projects.Ensure project compliance with health, safety, environmental, sustainability, quality, and statutory requirements.Maintain effective client, subcontractor, and regulatory relationships.Implement project policies, procedures, and execution plans, including reporting on progress, cost, schedule, and risks.Drive a Safety by Design approach and support a culture of technical excellence and staff development.Support business development, client relationship management, and future project opportunities.Ensure adherence to client technical standards, industry best practices, and organisational management systems.QualificationsBachelor's degree in an engineering discipline relevant to electricity transmission & distribution, with at least 3 years of design services experience.Knowledge of project management and design management best practices (APM / PMP / PRINCE2).Understanding of UK Health & Safety, Environmental, and Construction (Design & Management) Regulations, including CDM Principal Designer responsibilities.Contract management experience, preferably with NEC contracts and National Grid procedures (TP106, TP131, TP135, TP137, TP141, TP153, TP163, TP182, TP184, TP188, TP189, TP191, TP211, TP215, TP241).Familiarity with procedural control of Temporary Works and causes/consequences of Impressed Voltage.Strong IT skills, including MS Office and MS Project.Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.Ability to manage multiple projects, coach teams, and deliver innovative solutions.Relevant Health & Safety qualification (IOSH, NEBOSH, or NVQ Level 3 in H&S-related subject).ersg are an equal opportunities employer; we are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all job applicants.
