Job DescriptionJob Title: Site HSE Manager / Site Health & Safety Manager (m/f/d) - Industrial / EPC SubstationsLocation: Baden-Württemberg, GermanyMain Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn this position, you will ensure that:Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements are implemented to the highest standards, fully comply with legal regulations, and meet both company and client requirements.Regular communication is maintained with the Site Management team, the client's Health & Safety Coordinator, and internal departments.Subcontractors comply with all project-specific requirements and applicable legal regulations.You participate in all Health, Safety and Environmental meetings.Site safety plans and safe working procedures are developed, implemented, and regularly reviewed.Risk assessments are carried out and appropriate control measures are defined.Regular site safety inspections are conducted.HSE inductions are delivered to everyone entering the site (e.g. in accordance with DGUV requirements).HSE KPIs are monitored and reported.Support is provided in handling customer complaints and implementing corrective actions.Reportable accidents and environmental incidents are properly investigated, documented, and administered.Continuous improvement is promoted through training, coaching, and ongoing support.Required QualificationsIdeally, you will have several years of relevant professional experience and meet the following requirements:Proven experience on construction sites of varying size and complexity, preferably involving GIS/AIS high-voltage substations.Strong knowledge of occupational health & safety legislation and environmental regulations.Experience in developing site safety concepts and conducting risk assessments.Good knowledge of ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management).Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems.Strong technical expertise combined with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.Ability to identify issues early, resolve problems effectively, and build positive relationships with clients and suppliers.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, logically, and confidently, along with the assertiveness required for the role.Highly self-motivated, flexible, proactive, and resilient, with the ability to work independently while always adhering to the company Code of Conduct.Ability to remain calm under pressure, maintain a clear overview, and take a solution-oriented approach in challenging situations.EducationYou have successfully completed one of the following:A technical qualification in Construction, Electrical Engineering/Electronics, orA degree in Civil Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or another relevant scientific discipline.The following qualifications are advantageous:Electrically Instructed Person (EUP) certification.Qualified Electrician (Elektrofachkraft).Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (Sicherheitsfachkraft) in accordance with Section 7 of the German Occupational Safety Act (ASiG).LanguagesFluent German (business/professional proficiency) is essential.Business-level English is an advantage.ersg are an equal opportunities employer; we are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all job applicants. Job PurposeThe HSEQ Manager is responsible for leading and continually improving the company's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) management systems across all operations. The role ensures full compliance with legislative requirements, client standards, and ISO management systems while promoting a proactive Zero Harm culture throughout the business.Working closely with senior management, project teams, clients and subcontractors, the HSEQ Manager will support the successful delivery of major civil engineering, power transmission, grid connection and infrastructure projects while maintaining the highest standards of safety, environmental stewardship and quality.Key ResponsibilitiesHealth & SafetyLead the development, implementation and continual improvement of the company's Health & Safety Management System.Promote a positive safety culture and behavioural safety initiatives across all project sites.Ensure compliance with all relevant UK and Irish health and safety legislation.Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.Monitor HSEQ performance through KPIs and prepare monthly management reports.Develop and review RAMS, safe systems of work and project-specific HSEQ documentation.Provide competent HSEQ advice to project managers, supervisors and operational teams.Support emergency preparedness and business continuity planning.Environmental ManagementEnsure compliance with environmental legislation and client environmental requirements.Promote sustainable construction practices and environmental best practice.Monitor waste management, pollution prevention, carbon reduction and environmental performance.Support biodiversity and ecological protection measures on construction projects.Lead environmental inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented.Quality ManagementMaintain and continually improve the Quality Management System.Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards and client quality requirements.Monitor project quality performance and oversee inspection and test plans where required.Lead internal quality audits and coordinate external certification audits.Drive continuous improvement initiatives across operational teams.Compliance & GovernanceMaintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.Manage certification audits and surveillance visits.Ensure all HSEQ documentation is maintained, controlled and regularly reviewed.Monitor legislative changes and communicate updates throughout the business.Support client audits and pre-qualification assessments.Leadership & TrainingProvide leadership, coaching and mentoring to operational teams.Deliver HSEQ inductions, toolbox talks and awareness training.Develop annual HSEQ training plans and competency matrices.Work collaboratively with project managers to embed HSEQ requirements throughout project delivery.Promote employee engagement and continuous improvement in HSEQ performance.Skills & ExperienceEssentialMinimum 5 years' experience in an HSEQ management role within civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure or construction.Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and environmental regulations.Experience implementing and managing ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.Experience conducting audits, incident investigations and root cause analysis.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Strong report writing and analytical abilities.Full UK driving licence.Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK and Ireland.DesirableExperience working on power transmission, substations, overhead lines or grid connection projects.NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.Chartered Membership (CMIOSH) or working towards chartership.Internal or Lead Auditor qualification.Environmental qualification (IEMA or equivalent).Temporary Works, CDM Regulations and Principal Contractor experience.ersg are an equal opportunities employer; we are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all job applicants. Electrical Supervisor required to work with a main EPC contractor on a large-scale Solar Farm project in Wexford, Ireland. This is a freelance position starting ASAP on a 6-month contract. Previous utility-scale solar farm experience is required. You will be responsible for supervising electrical subcontractors, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards, while coordinating daily site activities and supporting project delivery. This is a fully onsite position.
