Role Overview

Responsible for coordinating and executing safety-from-the-system activities for mechanical and electrical systems across onshore and offshore substations and export cables, including onshore commissioning at assembly and construction sites. A key focus is early engagement with project teams and EPC contractors to ensure all safety documentation, processes, and interfaces are in place to support seamless transition from construction to commissioning under safety rules.


Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and coordinate commissioning activities in line with HSE, QA/QC, project, contractor, and O&M requirements.

  • Prepare and review commissioning procedures and RAMS.

  • Participate in HAZOP and HAZID workshops.

  • Plan, organise, monitor, and support site commissioning to ensure safe and efficient resource use and compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget.

  • Oversee integration of ABB SCADA control systems with operator control and trading platforms.

Lead teams of SAPs, control engineers, supervisors, back-office support, and technicians, ensuring high performance and resource allocation across internal and contractor teams

  • Assign and oversee commissioning work scopes.

  • Plan and deliver SAP-related activities for all onshore and offshore substation transmission systems, including export cables and pre-commissioning works at the construction/assembly yard.

  • Manage team and individual performance, identifying training needs and addressing wellbeing or performance issues in line with company processes.


Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Required

  • Relevant technical qualification (HNC/HND or equivalent, ideally electrical).

  • Proven experience in managing commissioning activities and associated workflows.

  • 5+ years' experience in UK offshore wind construction, commissioning, or operations.

  • Experience working as an electrical engineer or SAP (up to 400kV preferred).

  • Strong drive, quality focus, and professional standards.
