Health & Safety

  • Implement and monitor the project Health & Safety Management System

  • Ensure compliance with Irish H&S legislation, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act

  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks

  • Review and approve risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and safe systems of work

  • Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and inductions for site personnel and contractors

  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, producing reports and corrective actions

  • Liaise with site management, contractors, and external stakeholders on H&S matters

Environmental

  • Monitor environmental controls and compliance with planning conditions and environmental permits

  • Support implementation of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP)

  • Manage waste segregation, pollution prevention, and protection of local habitats

  • Report and respond to environmental incidents

Training & Culture

  • Promote a positive safety culture across the solar farm hub

  • Support training initiatives and competency checks

  • Act as a point of contact for HSE queries on site

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field

  • Relevant HSE qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent)

  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a similar HSE role, ideally within construction, renewables, or utilities

  • Strong knowledge of Irish H&S and environmental legislation

  • Experience working on large infrastructure or renewable energy projects (solar preferred)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to influence and engage site teams and contractors

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-focused

  • Competent in incident reporting and root cause analysis

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, site-based environment

Desirable

  • Previous experience on solar or renewable energy projects

  • Temporary Works or Construction Safety experience

  • Safe Pass and manual handling certification

BESS Engineer

ersg are working with a leading investor in Renewable Energy assets to hire a BESS-focused Engineer. This role will see the successful candidate join a market-leader to ensure the delivery of their growing BESS portfolio.Key responsibilities include;Being the lead person on technical developments in the Battery industry - supporting internal and external stakholders with technical comprehension of BESS.Identification and selection of BESS, PCS and EMS providers.Support colleagues through acquisition, JVs and project development stages from a technical perspective.Ensure FAT/SATs are completed.Ensuring delivery of projects in accordance with grid compliance.Candidates should have a strong background within BESS (upwards of three years), additionally any training with inverter manufacturers are a bonus. It is critical that candidates have experience of managing contractors such as EPCs.This position is a hybrid-role, based in the client's offices for four days per week.
