Job Summary:

The preferred candidate is responsible for design preparation based on customer specifications, conducting engineering activities from the design stage through site commissioning, and acting as a technical interface between the customer and the internal grid automation technical community. In-depth hands-on experience and knowledge of protection and scheme design for electrical substations is an essential element of this role. This role will report directly to the Engineering Team Leader for Protection Systems.


Key Responsibilities:

Ø Lead Technical Projects: Drive technical project activities, lead customer kick-off meetings, and ensure successful project execution from design to commissioning.

Ø Customer and Project Management: Participate in project risk reviews, manage project budgets in terms of man-days allocated to engineering tasks, and provide regular progress updates.

Ø Design and Documentation: Analyse customer specifications, prepare project technical documentation, and validate technical solutions with customers.

Ø Technical Oversight: Specify software and Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs), manage technical execution planning, and ensure adherence to applicable safety standards.

Ø Issue Resolution: Address technical deviations, manage fault reports, and support site engineers remotely or on-site.

Ø Testing and Commissioning: Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and coordinate with commissioning teams for major site milestones.


Essential Qualifications:

Ø Educational Background: BSc. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Ø Experience: Over five years of experience in protection and electrical design engineering.

Ø Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of protection functions, electrical schemes, and cubicle design.

Ø Design Expertise: Proficient in designing and configuring protection relays and performing network studies.

Ø Substation Automation Systems: Proven knowledge of modern substation automation solutions is preferred.

Ø Travel: Ability to travel locally and internationally, with a valid driver's license.

Ø Automation and Protection Systems: In-depth knowledge of automation electrical schemes, detailed design of electrical protection relays (LV, MV, and HV), and network studies.

Ø Interpersonal and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Ø Independent and Flexible: Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with a flexible approach to working hours.

Ø Communication and Teamwork: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
