Lot Manager | Overhead Line Construction - Major Grid Reinforcement Project

Position: Losverantwortlicher / Projektleitung Freileitungsbau (m/f/d)

Project: Overhead Line Construction

Location: Stuttgart and project region Heidelberg, Heilbronn & Würzburg

Start Date: October 1, 2026, or earlier

Contract Duration: Approx. 24 months, target completion September 30, 2028

Workload: Approx. 40 hours/week (1.0 FTE)

Remote Work: 40%

On-site Presence: 60% in Stuttgart and/or the project region

Travel: Willingness to work across the project area in Heidelberg, Heilbronn and Würzburg, as well as Stuttgart

Responsibilities

  • Take over the role of Project Lead / Losverantwortlicher Freileitungsbau for the assigned lot or sub-project.
  • Assume overall professional and organisational responsibility for the assigned lot within the framework defined by the overall project management.
  • Plan, organise, manage and monitor the project while ensuring compliance with cost, schedule, quality and acceptance requirements.
  • Independently coordinate internal and external stakeholders involved in the assigned project area.
  • Represent the project internally and externally and manage the relevant interfaces.
  • Carry out stakeholder management, including communication and coordination with project participants and external parties.
  • Manage project changes, schedules and project-related deadlines.
  • Plan resources and establish an appropriate project organisation.
  • Perform risk and opportunity management, including identification, monitoring and implementation of mitigation or exploitation measures.
  • Prepare regular and target-group-oriented project reporting using the designated tools.
  • Ensure the constructability of the project while complying with all relevant approval conditions and regulatory requirements.
  • Fulfil relevant client / owner responsibilities within the assigned project scope.
  • Organise occupational health, safety and environmental protection measures and regularly monitor compliance.
  • Reserve material provisions for overhead line construction in the TransnetBW central warehouse and arrange material orders.
  • Organise, coordinate and lead the project team.
  • Take responsibility for project-related decisions in the event of conflicting objectives.
  • Coordinate and ensure complete and structured project documentation.
  • Coordinate and conduct lessons-learned workshops to improve internal project processes.
  • Manage and coordinate general contractors, suppliers and service providers.
  • Coordinate with TransnetBW plant operations regarding plant responsibility and construction supervision, including DB Energie where applicable.
  • Plan and register required switching operations.
  • Coordinate and support commissioning / putting installations into operation.
  • Ensure complete project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide regular and structured information to the overall project management and management team.

Requirements

  • Completed technical degree, ideally in Civil Engineering, or a technical vocational qualification combined with extensive further training.
  • Minimum Senior-level professional experience.
  • More than 5 years of professional experience in overhead line construction (Freileitungsbau), particularly in planning and construction execution.
  • More than 4 years of project management experience.
  • Solid theoretical foundation in project management; an IPMA Level D or higher certification is advantageous.
  • More than 4 years of leadership experience, either in project environments or line management.
  • Strong communication and moderation skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and assertiveness.
  • Structured, organised and detail-oriented working style.
  • Strong ability to independently manage complex projects and coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of overhead line construction and the ability to manage both technical and organisational project requirements.
  • For candidates whose native language is not German, strong German communication skills must be demonstrated and explained as part of the candidate submission.

The overall objective is to ensure the structured, compliant and traceable execution of the assigned overhead line construction lot while meeting the project's cost, schedule, quality and acceptance priorities.
