HSE Manager - London/South East

ersg is supporting a client who is leading the acquisition, delivery and management of Utility-Scale Energy Storage assets in the UK.They are searching for a Project Engineer to work closely with internal (Head of Engineering, Project Managers) and external stakeholders (Consultants etc.) to ensure that the development and engineering of projects is conceptually sound, managing the process through to an asset becoming operational. ersg are working with a leading EPC Contractor in the Renewable Energy sector to hire a Power Systems Specialist focused on Design. The client operates across the European market but is growing their UK team, and is winning more business across the Utility-Scale Solar (20MW or above) sector.This role will see the successful candidate designing LV and HV systems for Solar projects; handling SLDs from beginning to final design. You will also be managing grid connection applications, and liaising with the DNO, whilst ensuring grid compliance to G99 and G100 standards. You will also be instrumental in the specification of related plant (transformers, switchgear etc.) and supporting during various stages of the project - from procurement to commissioning.Candidates MUST have a degree in Electrical Engineering, or a suitable field. Be able to demonstrate their experience in LV & HV system design, and have been involved in a portfolio of Utility-Scale Solar projects in the UK. Key responsibilitiesDevelop and lead the UK HSE strategy, translating business objectives into clear priorities, standards and improvement plans.Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on HSE performance, regulatory compliance, operational risk and governance.Oversee HSE management systems, assurance programmes, audits and performance reporting across the UK.Lead, develop and support HSE managers and wider teams, establishing clear expectations and promoting accountability.Drive improvements in safety culture, leadership engagement, contractor management and risk control.Oversee significant incident investigations, ensuring appropriate root-cause analysis, corrective actions and lessons learned.Work with project directors, operational leaders, clients, contractors and relevant external stakeholders to maintain and improve HSE standards.Monitor changes in legislation, industry guidance and emerging risks, ensuring the business responds appropriately.Use performance data and assurance findings to identify trends, address weaknesses and support continuous improvement.Experience and qualificationsSignificant senior HSE leadership experience within renewable energy, power, major construction, civil engineering, utilities or a related high-risk industry.Experience developing and implementing HSE strategy across multiple projects, sites, regions or business units.Strong understanding of UK HSE legislation, risk management, contractor assurance and management systems.Experience leading and developing HSE teams and influencing senior stakeholders.Experience improving HSE performance through effective leadership, governance and engagement.NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent Chartered IOSH statusersg are an equal opportunities employer; we are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all job applicants.
