Senior Electrical Design EngineerJob Summary:We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing team. This role will involve leading electrical design projects and supporting the development of a high-performing electrical design team. You will play a key role in delivering HV and MV design solutions across sectors such as Substations, Renewable Energy (Solar, Wind), and Battery Storage systems. Key ResponsibilitiesClient-facing role, representing Powercomm in technical discussions.Lead electrical design projects from concept through to completion.Prepare detailed design reports, specifications, and technical documentation.Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.Liaise with Clients, Utilities (e.g., EirGrid/ESB), and Local Authorities.Provide technical leadership on HV/MV systems including substations, transformers, switchgear, and protection schemes.Mentor and support Graduate and Junior Engineers, reviewing and approving their work Qualifications & Experience:BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with post-graduate design experience in an engineering consultancy or similar environment.Strong experience in HV/MV electrical design, particularly in substations, power distribution, protection systems, and grid connections.Demonstrable knowledge of electrical infrastructure design including transformers, switchgear, protection relays, and control systems.Proven ability to manage design documentation, including reports, calculations, and technical specifications.Proficiency in electrical design software such as EPLAN & AutoCAD.Highly motivated with strong awareness of health & safety, quality, and environmental considerations.Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development.5+ years relevant experience. What will you be doing?As a Project Engineer, you'll support the successful delivery of substation projects, ensuring all engineering activities are completed safely, accurately, and to the highest standards.With hands-on experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively with project managers, site teams, and external stakeholders, you will:Oversee site supervisors, craft teams, and subcontractors on a daily basisCommunicate regularly with client site representatives and attend progress meetingsMonitor and manage project costsPrepare method statements, work instructions, and risk assessmentsProvide information for contract status reports and other client deliverablesMaintain accurate project records to support claims and commercial reportingPlan and coordinate labour, plant, and materials for substation worksLiaise with procurement to ensure timely availability of equipment and materialsEnsure compliance with relevant standards and company proceduresManage health and safety across site teams and subcontractorsWhat you'll bring:Knowledge of Construction and Health & Safety regulationsSite supervision experience on high-voltage substation projects (132kV and above preferred)Experience managing technical aspects of substation construction, installation, and commissioningElectrical BackgroundFamiliarity with civil and electrical worksExperience managing subcontractors and recording measurementsersg are an equal opportunities employer; we are committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all job applicants.
