Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Manager to oversee offshore wind turbine operations in Japan. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong technical background in wind turbine technology, specifically with hands-on experience from a leading Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) OEM. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient and safe O&M operations while supporting the long-term performance of offshore wind assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all aspects of offshore wind farm operations and maintenance.
- Serve as the technical authority on WTG O&M procedures, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Coordinate with local site teams, OEMs, subcontractors, and asset owners to ensure smooth operations.
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance strategies.
- Analyze turbine performance data to identify areas for improvement and ensure high availability and reliability.
- Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices.
- Provide regular reports and updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Support budget planning and cost control for O&M activities.
- Participate in technical meetings and represent the project in internal and external forums as needed.
- Work on-site in Japan for approximately 1 month every 3 months; remote support expected during off-rotation.
Requirements:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in wind turbine operations and maintenance, with at least 3 years working for a major WTG OEM (e.g., Siemens Gamesa, Vestas, GE, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of offshore wind O&M practices, logistics, and challenges.
- Proven experience in managing technical teams and coordinating with international stakeholders.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken; Japanese language is not required.
- Excellent understanding of HSE standards in offshore environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel to Japan on a rotational basis (1 month in-country per quarter).
- Engineering degree or relevant technical qualification preferred.
