Position: Material Estimator / Material Planning Specialist (m/f/d)
Project: Overhead Line Construction
Location: Stuttgart, Germany
Start Date: October 2026
Contract Duration: Until September 30, 2027, with potential extension
Workload: Approx. 40 hours/week (1.0 FTE)
Remote Work: 60%
On-site Presence: 40% in Stuttgart, typically around 2 days per week

Responsibilities

  • Determine and compile project-specific material requirements for overhead line construction using defined tools and methodologies.
  • Calculate material requirements for conductor wires, earth wires, overhead cables, fittings, insulators, attachments, construction cables, steel components, connecting materials, climbing systems, and related equipment.
  • Calculate conductor wire drum/pass lengths.
  • Determine additional material requirements for sample testing based on applicable standards, normative requirements, and internal technical guidelines.
  • Coordinate and monitor delivery quantities and delivery schedules with internal departments and suppliers.
  • Support the Project Manager in arranging replacement deliveries for defective or non-conforming materials.
  • Maintain, validate, and control project-related material and numerical data.
  • Carry out ad-hoc calculations and provide numerical evaluations related to material requirements.
  • Support the project team in ensuring that material requirements are delivered in accordance with project schedules, quality requirements, and technical specifications.
  • Provide regular and structured information to the overall project management and management team regarding material-related topics.
  • Support the timely and budget-compliant execution of outstanding measures within the overhead line construction project.

Requirements

  • Completed technical qualification as a Technician or a completed degree in Engineering (FH, University, or DH).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high affinity for working with figures and data.
  • Very good Microsoft Excel skills; programming knowledge in Excel VBA is advantageous.
  • Experience in overhead line construction (Freileitungsbau) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in project management and knowledge of line construction, steel construction, or linear infrastructure projects.
  • Strong ability to work with technical and project-related data and translate requirements into accurate material calculations.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with project management, internal departments, and external suppliers.
  • German communication skills sufficient for effective coordination within the project environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project locations within Baden-Württemberg
