Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principal Design Engineer with expertise in structural or geotechnical engineering to lead and oversee the design of complex civil engineering projects. The successful candidate will combine deep technical knowledge with innovative problem-solving and proven leadership skills to ensure the successful delivery of safe, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and review detailed designs in structural or geotechnical engineering, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.

  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to deliver on project objectives.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.

  • Ensure designs meet safety, environmental, and quality requirements.

  • Oversee design changes and resolve technical challenges during project development.

  • Contribute to client meetings and provide technical input to support business development.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering (Master's preferred).

  • Significant experience in design engineering, ideally within infrastructure or major civil works.

  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulatory frameworks.

  • Proven experience leading design teams in a structural or geotechnical capacity.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

We're looking for a Design Manager to head up our Leeds Design Office, overseeing multidisciplinary teams and ensuring high-quality, safe, and efficient design solutions across a wide range of projects.The RoleAs Design Manager, you will take ownership of the Leeds Design Office, driving operational performance, managing resources, and ensuring design outputs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
