Site Supervisor - Cable Installation (HVDC Converter Station Project)
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor - Cable Installation to support the delivery of a major energy infrastructure project in Germany. The role involves overseeing cable installation activities within a large-scale converter station environment that forms part of a critical power transmission development connecting renewable energy sources to the national grid.
This position is primarily site-based in the greater Würzburg region, with occasional travel to other project locations in Germany as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and supervise cable installation activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.
- Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations by all contractors and subcontractors on site.
- Review technical documentation, installation procedures, method statements, and construction drawings prior to execution.
- Verify the quality of workmanship and ensure cable installation activities are performed according to approved standards and best practices.
- Conduct regular site inspections and monitor construction progress against project schedules.
- Support and coordinate inspections, testing activities, and commissioning preparations.
- Identify, document, and follow up on non-conformities, defects, and corrective actions.
- Assess contractor resource deployment and provide feedback regarding construction performance.
- Coordinate with project management, engineering teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to resolve technical and construction-related issues.
- Prepare site reports and provide regular updates on progress, quality, safety, and risks.
Required Qualifications
- Completed vocational training as an Electrical Technician, Electrician, or equivalent electrical qualification; higher technical qualifications are advantageous.
- Minimum 2 years of practical experience in cable installation and cable routing activities, including cable support systems, fastening methods, protection measures, and compliance with cable bending radius requirements.
- Experience working on industrial facilities, power transmission projects, substations, converter stations, power plants, or similar infrastructure projects.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, installation plans, and engineering documentation.
- Good knowledge of applicable electrical standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Valid Class B driving license.
- Professional proficiency in both German and English (minimum C1 level preferred).
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience in construction supervision, quality assurance, or site inspection roles.
- Familiarity with defect management processes, punch-list tracking, and acceptance procedures.
- Experience working with document management and construction management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Experience in large-scale energy, utility, transmission, or industrial construction projects.
