Job Title: Site HSE Manager / Site Health & Safety Manager (m/f/d) - Industrial / EPC Substations

Location: Baden-Württemberg, Germany

Main Duties and Responsibilities

In this position, you will ensure that:

  • Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements are implemented to the highest standards, fully comply with legal regulations, and meet both company and client requirements.
  • Regular communication is maintained with the Site Management team, the client's Health & Safety Coordinator, and internal departments.
  • Subcontractors comply with all project-specific requirements and applicable legal regulations.
  • You participate in all Health, Safety and Environmental meetings.
  • Site safety plans and safe working procedures are developed, implemented, and regularly reviewed.
  • Risk assessments are carried out and appropriate control measures are defined.
  • Regular site safety inspections are conducted.
  • HSE inductions are delivered to everyone entering the site (e.g. in accordance with DGUV requirements).
  • HSE KPIs are monitored and reported.
  • Support is provided in handling customer complaints and implementing corrective actions.
  • Reportable accidents and environmental incidents are properly investigated, documented, and administered.
  • Continuous improvement is promoted through training, coaching, and ongoing support.

Required Qualifications

Ideally, you will have several years of relevant professional experience and meet the following requirements:

  • Proven experience on construction sites of varying size and complexity, preferably involving GIS/AIS high-voltage substations.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health & safety legislation and environmental regulations.
  • Experience in developing site safety concepts and conducting risk assessments.
  • Good knowledge of ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems.
  • Strong technical expertise combined with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify issues early, resolve problems effectively, and build positive relationships with clients and suppliers.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, logically, and confidently, along with the assertiveness required for the role.
  • Highly self-motivated, flexible, proactive, and resilient, with the ability to work independently while always adhering to the company Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, maintain a clear overview, and take a solution-oriented approach in challenging situations.

Education

You have successfully completed one of the following:

  • A technical qualification in Construction, Electrical Engineering/Electronics, or
  • A degree in Civil Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Safety Engineering, or another relevant scientific discipline.

The following qualifications are advantageous:

  • Electrically Instructed Person (EUP) certification.
  • Qualified Electrician (Elektrofachkraft).
  • Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (Sicherheitsfachkraft) in accordance with Section 7 of the German Occupational Safety Act (ASiG).

Languages

  • Fluent German (business/professional proficiency) is essential.
  • Business-level English is an advantage.

Job PurposeThe HSEQ Manager is responsible for leading and continually improving the company's Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) management systems across all operations.
