A global construction company is urgently looking for a talented HSE manager to assist the construction manager oversee the construction of a new data center in Osaka, Japan.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily safety inspections on all floors of the construction site
- Manage Health & Safety systems on a large-scale construction project and assist the Construction Manager with implementing HS procedures
- Ensure work methods comply with legal and company requirements and the main contractor's scope and MSs
- Conduct and oversee training and competence checks for site staff and sub-contractors
- Produce daily reports on HSE violations on each floor
- Assist in identifying significant factors affecting project design and risk assessment
- Manage the contractor's HSE team
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety rules, DOSH, NEBOSH, and local HSE
- Minimum 5-8 years' experience in a construction safety role, preferably in high-tech manufacturing projects such as data centers, clean rooms, laboratories, or hospitals
- Strong understanding of working practices and safety on construction projects, including risk assessments, Method Statements, employee and manager training, and safety auditing
- Excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English, written and verbal
- Strong leadership skills to ensure HS compliance across different stakeholders
- Ability to teach workers from various countries with limited language ability and no prior understanding of HSE
