A regional offshore wind developer is seeking a Project Engineer to support the development and pre-construction phases of offshore wind farms in Japan, with a primary focus on structural design. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in evaluating technical designs, coordinating with external parties, and ensuring project timelines are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in site condition data collection, including wind, Metocean, geophysical, and geotechnical surveys.
  • Evaluate OWT foundation design, including concept screening, design methodology, and review of design drawings and reports.
  • Assess site-specific geotechnical and seismic conditions, including geotechnical interpretation reports and seismic site response analysis.
  • Conduct desktop research on various engineering subjects and present key findings to the team.
  • Prepare scopes of work (SoW) and requests for proposals (RFPs) for various project components and evaluate technical proposals.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines during the pre-FEED process.
  • Manage pre-FEED schedules and monitor progress effectively.
  • Facilitate technical meetings internally and externally during pre-FEED.
  • Prepare technical documentation, meeting minutes, and presentations summarizing key technical aspects.
  • Review and prepare auction bid applications.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering, preferably in offshore wind farms or civil engineering with near-shore design and construction experience.
  • Previous experience in geotechnical engineering, particularly in reviewing geotechnical investigation.
  • Familiarity with relevant structural analysis tools such as Sesam, SACS, MIDAS, etc.
  • Knowledge of relevant Japanese and international offshore design codes and standards (e.g., DNV, IEC).

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with soil and seismic analysis tools.
  • Fluency in both English and Japanese, both verbally and written, is preferred.
