A leading wind energy company seeks an experienced senior general manager to bolster their management team to oversee operations across their onshore wind farms throughout Japan.

Role and Responsibiltities

  • Manage the local engineering team, supporting the sales process and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Understanding the specific requirements for onshore wind turbines in the Japanese market and engaging with local authorities or utilities.
  • Leading efforts to secure local approval for design methods based on international standards.
  • Coordinating discussions with external Japanese design firms, regarding the tower recognition process.
  • Engaging with certification agencies, such as ClassNK, to facilitate project certification processes.
  • Assisting in discussions with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) during the construction permitting process.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Mechanical, Structural engineering or Civil engineering or similar
  • 5+ years' experience in engineering, design, R&D, or project management within manufacturing industry, plant engineering industry, or engineering, procurement and construction fields (EPC).
  • Business level fluency in Japanese and English

Desired Skills/Qualifications

  • Previous experience in wind power industry is preferred.
  • Previous experience in wind turbine design (e.g loads calculation, tower design etc)
  • Experience with wind related certification agencies
  • Previous Project Management experience
