A regional wind developer is currently hiring a WTG manager for their technical services team to lead the selection of wind turbines and manage OEM discussions, agreements, and due diligence for new projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the selection and approval process of wind turbines for project-specific requirements, considering design evolution, site conditions, certification, logistics, performance, maintainability, and reliability.
  • Manage discussions with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and oversee agreements including Early Works Agreement, procurement of OEM/WTG, Service Availability Agreement, and Service Maintenance Agreement.
  • Conduct turbine due diligence for new projects, advising development and engineering teams on wind resource assessment, energy yield estimation, grid code compliance, and environmental impacts.
  • Evaluate new turbine technologies from a life-cycle management perspective, assisting the operations team in establishing standard operating procedures and collaborating with third-party service providers.
  • Identify and develop new technology programs, including establishing partnerships with technology providers.
  • Assist the development team in framing appropriate wind turbine and SCADA contract terms such as warranties, guarantees, specifications, and other requirements.
  • Support the operations team in assessing performance improvement options, retrofits, and design changes offered by OEMs.
  • Manage third-party advisors for technical contracting discussions and prepare technical schedules for contracts.
  • Provide training and mentorship to new wind engineers.
  • Collaborate closely with development, investment, construction teams, etc., to ensure project optimization from a techno-economic perspective.

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering or wind assessment within the wind power plant industry.
  • Business-level proficiency in written and spoken English.

Desired Skills and Experiences:

  • Working experience with any certification bodies- DNV, BV, Class NK.
  • Experience in WTG technology either in onshore and offshore wind domain.
  • Experience in transportation & installation of turbines.
  • Experience in co- ordinating with WTG OEMs.
  • Working experience in WTG contract's negotiations-EWA, TSA, SMA.
  • Business level profciency in Japanese.
