A foreign wind developer is urgently looking for a talented offshore structural enginer to join their rapidly expanding engineering team in Tokyo. You will have the rare opportunity to be a part of the early stages of the offshore wind industry in Japan and will be working on a future project scheduled to be constructed in 2029.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the design of primary structural steel for offshore wind turbines.
  • Managing soil-structure interaction activities as part of the design process.
  • Assisting structural engineering activities from FEED/Basic to Detailed Design stages and continuing support through fabrication and construction phases.
  • Mentoring and developing junior and associate colleagues within the team and across the wider business.
  • Ensuring integration of lessons learned from operating fleet into future projects.
  • Providing technical support to Procurement, Quality, and HSSE departments.
  • Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, external design houses, certification authorities, and fabrication contractors to produce cost-effective and value-added solutions.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level in civil or structural engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Fluent spoken and written English and Japanese.

Desired Skills/Qualifications:

  • Membership of a professional engineering body.
  • 5 years of experience in offshore structural engineering.
  • Proven experience supporting renewable construction projects.
  • Experience of working effectively in an international business environment.
