Orsted had a magnificent week last week starting with the 100% acquisition of Deepwater Wind in the US. Their chief executive Martin Neubert said: "With this transaction we are creating the number one offshore wind platform in North America and the deal consolidates Orsted's position as the global market leader in offshore wind with a strong foothold across Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific"
The combined company will be called Orsted US Offshore Wind and top executives will come from both companies. The deal will be completed following regulatory approvals by the end of 2018.
Additionally, Orsted have signed contracts with Formosa Heay Industries based in Taiwan for the manufacture of jacket foundation pin piles. The contract is valued at around EUR 56 million, they will be used for two projects and the contract is scheduled to be completed in 2021. Orsted have a number of ongoing projects off the Changhua coast and these are scheduled to be built between 2021 and 2025.
